Moderne Cushion in Khaki on Ivory
We are mildly obsessed with a particular movement in porcelain prevalent in the town of Vallauris, southeastern France in the 60s and 70s. This playful, modern aesthetic can be seen in the ceramics of Jean Derval, which at the time created in the French an insatiable appetite for strange, abstract, folksy forms.
It is always a huge thrill to take an aesthetic associated with a particular medium and reimagine it in another, and here we use needlepoint to create our own interpretation of Derval’s abstract forms.
Our Moderne cushion – embroidered in British wool and lurex using the Gobelin stitch technique – will add a touch of modernist chic to any chair or sofa.
